If you haven’t heard by now there has been an odd cryptic ad going around supposedly by Glock. Here is the ad….

glock-g42

The G42 is the first weird thing for me. Glock models go in order starting at the G17 (which was actually the 17th design the company came up with but was the 1st to make it to the market) and so on up to the Glock 39 this leaves a couple spots open if they are sticking to their numerical system.

I have talked to a few people, and they are telling me what very little their Glock reps are saying, but it sounds like we are in for at least two new models. There is a lot of speculation out there. People are guessing everything from a full on Glock Carbine to a full size 22lr trainer handgun. There is a big camp that thinks it will be a 380 version since there has been import restriction on the G25 and G28 here in the US. The reason I am skeptical on the 380 idea is because those two pistols already have a spot in the numerical line I don’t see Glock reserving two more model numbers for the same pistols. And the 380 was sooo three years ago. (Except for Ruger last year who in spite of everyone else showing up with single stack 9mm’s they crashed the party with the LC380.)

Now here is where I get to give you your moneys worth and tell you what I think is going to happen. At SHOT Show last year I was extremely disappointed with Glock for not introducing a new single stack 9mm. I actually put my full displeasure out there to one of the booth workers and had a pretty good conversation with him. Knowing what he told me and considering the fact that S&W has the Shield and Springfield has the XDs I am betting on a single stacked 9mm to be making it’s debut at SHOT this year. This is my final answer. All signs point to single stack 9 for me and I’m pretty pumped about it. I am tired of enjoying my wife’s Shield so much and having to lower my standards to a Smith & Wesson when I want to carry a thin gun.

I said above that this there is more than likely two new models coming out didn’t I? Well, the single stack 9 is my educated guess pick so I I will give you one guess from left field. I think the second new guns is going to be some sort of optics ready handgun. We saw it last year with the FNX-45 Tactical and now the M&P Core I think Glock is looking towards the future of what defensive handguns might be. Keep in mind also Outdoor Channel’s show Shooting Gallery just got finished filming a show called “Zero to Hero” with trainer Gabe Suarez using all Glocks with red dots mounted on them I think this guess is out there but not too unreasonable.

For my third and final trick I give you the Glock G99…..

Hey we can always speculate right? What do you think Glock is going to unveil at SHOT this year? Let me know in the comments below.

If you have been a reader from nearly the beginning you will remember the mention of Reed Exhibitions. Long story short Reed Exhibitions made a LOT of money putting on the most exclusive show of the 2nd amendment industry, The SHOT Show. A brief time following SHOT Reed Ex. decided that they couldn’t allow the presence of modern sporting rifles in the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show. Upon that decision the Second Amendment industry stood up and said “nice try” and the show boycott was in effect full throttle. The backlash was so severe that the ESOS was essentially canceled due to the dramatic response of companies backing out and refusing to do business with an anti-liberty, anti-freedom, and anti-Second Amendment company.

Skip forward to today and you have the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) dumping Reed Exhibitions for the upcoming 2014 SHOT Show after a three decade relationship. Bravo NSSF! According to their announcement, they are still shopping for a new partner but I am certain there is someone out there to fill the shoes that Reed left.

Btw just in case anyone was wondering the dates for the 2014 SHOT Show are January 14-17. Mark your calendars and be there. Who is up for an Absolute BS meet up?

There is a but of a stink going on that isn’t getting much talk. It seems that the same events company (Reed Exhibitions) that puts on SHOT Show has had a change of heart and is giving the big EFF YOU to the largest part of the firearms industry by no longer allow the scary “Black Rifles” or “high-capacity magazines” to be displayed at its events from now on. Just to take it one step further they will not allow them to be depicted in their brochures or other advertising.

This is all coming to a head over the ESOS. (Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show) Just like any other outdoors show it usually allows a wide assortment of outfitters and manufacturers to be side by side in one venue for all sportsman to enjoy. Well not this year.

Why this now? Why was it ok to show these weapons of mass murder (insert heavy sarcasm) to be showed to the credentialed special folks and not to the lowly civilians? What does the National Shooting Sports Foundation have to say about this? Well they started out good…..

“The National Shooting Sports Foundation strongly disagrees with the decision of the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show’s management to disallow the display and sale of Modern Sporting Rifles at its 2013 exhibition. In our discussions with Reed Exhibitions, we have made this very clear.”

Then it ends ugly….

“We urge industry exhibitors and attendees to participate in the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show as planned and encourage attendees to visit the Reed Exhibitions booth at the show to share their concerns and to then enjoy the show.”

So let me get this straight, the organization whose motto is “To promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports” is telling us to play nice with folks who are thumbing their nose at our rights? With good reason Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Cabela’s (one of the major sponsors) have pulled their support from the ESOS. Many celebrities have pulled their support and canceled their appearances and workshops. Lee and Tiffany Larkosky of the Outdoor Channels “The Crush” came out with a statement yesterday,

“This was a hard decision, not because of the show and what they did, but that we wont have the opportunity to talk and shake hands with the fans that will be at the show that doesn’t completely support the Second Amendment.” Lee went on to say, “I don’t know why the NSSF would promote this ban just to please one vendor out of twelve hundred. Anyone who believes this isn’t a big deal is wrong. It is a bid deal because this is where it starts. There’s a reason for the Second Amendment and we all need to band together and stand behind it.”

He makes a great point. We as a firearms community need to stand together. There cannot be any more of the Us vs Them, Hunters vs Shooters. This battle is aimed at both groups. If any hunter believes that it will start and end at the black rifles you are sadly mistaken. The anti-gun side knows that one little chip off the block of our rights will lead to another chip, then another, and each time it gets easier and easier. And whether you want to believe it or not all roads lead to the same end game, confiscation. Look at New York and their crazy anti-gun year so far. Their Governor has even came out and stated it’s an option. This is not another battle over gun-rights, this is the war. The reason the ani-gun crowd is going all out is because they know this is their final stand. They see this as their great moment! They have the graves of 20 innocent children to dance around and soap box from to tug at the heartstrings of the uniformed americans that gave us a second Obama term.

After seeing all this ESOS fiasco it reminded me that we need to unify and fight the true enemy and not each other. The NSSF is trying to play the middle man when they need to be picking a side, OUR SIDE, and stop supporting a clear enemy to our rights as gun-owners.

Again contact your reps both federal and state. The last numbers I have heard was from Friday and it was 9-1 in our favor on the federal level but we need more. You can use the Ruger form letter that I talked about yesterday to get it done quickly. Also don’t forget to subscribe with email and Like us on Facebook. I’m still checking all my options for another giveaway at another milestone number of subscribers so the faster we gain the sooner someone is going to catch another great prize.

Remember to join in the fight and know who we are really fighting against,

Congrats banannies0206! You are the winner of the first ever Absolute BS giveaway! I have sent you an email and you have 24 hours to claim your prize before I randomly select another winner.

Here is the process and photos of selecting the winner.

I first wrote every subscriber by email and Facebook down and numbered them.

image

Then I used random.org and applied the total numbers I needed and it randomly selected the number 21.

image

Going back to the list I wrote out we see banannies is the lucky number!

image

Congratulations again and I will be eagerly awaiting your response!

I am already planning another drawing soon. I’m thinking another milestone number of subscribers will probably warrant another giveaway. I am trying to think of a way to out do this one so any suggestions would be great.

Thanks for the great turnout and support. I have big plans for the blog in the future with interviews and lots of reviews. I made some great contacts in Vegas and I think there are great things to come. Im still working on the photo dump of SHOT Show items but some needed edited so please stand by for those.

Again thanks for all the support. Keep the word spreading and the likes and subscribers coming.

Going into day 4 we had a few requests, but not enough to keep us busy the whole day so we decided we would hit the requests first, then just kinda wonder about aimlessly until something caught our eye.

The first request we had, was to grab some info on the Stressvest system.

image

image

The newest version was on display and now features more modes for more different kinds of role players. Also with the new model the belt is now wireless for more versatility to adapt with gear.

The next thing that caught our eye was the Smith & Wesson M&P VTAC

image

image

Coming in both 9mm and .40 caliber it also comes with some pretty impressive sights from the factory.

image

Savage introduced a left handed version of their 110 ba in both 338 and 300 win mag.

image

image

image

I have always liked the looks of those ever since they were introduced a couple years ago.

While still in the Savage booth we ran across a new kids line called the Rascal

image

Coming in an array of colors these were very neat little guns. I’m always happy to see new guns aimed at teaching kids the fundamentals at an early age. I will be talking about these more in the future.

Wandering through the Surefire area something caught my eye and I had to stop. As most of you know I’m a sucker for new lights and the Hellfighter 5 offers a lot to love.

image

With 4500 lumens at max output I can see it being a bad guy’s worst nightmare,  but with it weighing nearly as much as a complete rifle it is a good guy’s also. So what the heck do you do with a 5.7 pound flashlight?

image

Ohh that’s what you do with it!

We finally wandered into the Mission First Tactical booth for a second day because they were such great guys to talk with on day 3. Jason aka “The Guy” hooked us up with some really cool swag. It’s always great to meet some down to earth people in the industry. We will have more on them after they get back to Pennsylvania and settled back in, but for now some pictures of their top quality rifle furniture will have to do.

By the time we finally get back to our home state and at the BS castle we will have been up for roughly 25 hours. Expect to hear the announcement of the winner sometime Sunday when I regain consciousness and after I contact them. The giveaway is roughly 9 pounds of SHOT Show awesomeness. That also means if you know someone who wanted in on the drawing and they haven’t like the Facebook page or subscribed with email tell them time is running out.

You can expect an entire recap and photo dump of the whole week sometime in the near future after I can go through all the pictures along with a couple reviews of a few items I used while traveling and walking the show.

Until tomorrow (so I can sleep soundly)
