Georgia is moving in the right direction and not everyone is happy about it.  The “Safe Carry Protection Act” is now waiting on approval from Gov. Nathan Deal. Deal has an A rating from the NRA and it has been previously been reported that he stated he would sign any pro 2A bill that reaches his desk.

Of course all the standard outlets are shitting their pants in typical “blood of the streets” hysteria and one Anti-gun radio host went a little above and beyond with his misinformation filled rant. Mike Malloy who seems to think that the answer to curbing gun violence in the nation is …. well…. threatening more gun violence. Here is the rant…. (You can listen to it yourself over on the Guns Save Lives Blog)

[The] organization founded by Gabrielle Giffords…the former Arizona Congresswoman…who was critically wounded in a mass shooting in 2011, she calls it “the most extreme gun bill in America.” The NRA, which they’re behind this of course, they want guns everywhere….I would like to invite one of the NRA board members, and I’ll be armed, let’s just get this over with, OK? Come on down to Georgia and I’ll be packing heat and you be packing heat or whether you want to or not, I don’t give a damn, it’s up to you. And you come, meet me someplace, and all of sudden, see, we have stand your ground here, and all of a sudden I’m going to feel real…threatened by you! And I will shoot you! If I feel threatened. The law says I can. Ha ha ha ha ha, Ha ha ha ha ha!

Now anyone who knows anything that isn’t at all how a “Stand Your Ground law” works. It doesn’t matter if a state has a Stand Your Ground Law in effect or not you still have to prove your actions were reasonable and prudent by fulfilling the elements of Ability, Opportunity, and Jeopardy (If you have taken your concealed handgun class and have never head of AOJ before you should go get yourself in to a real class). People like Mr. Malloy think that if you keep repeating a lie eventually it will come true. If I remember correctly Albert Einstein described insanity as doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results.

Comments as usual are always welcome over on the Facebook page. Stop by and give it a like and while you are there let me know what you think about the Anti-gun side being the more violent side of the Second Amendment argument.

California State Senator Leland Yee is really all I have to say and you automatically start rolling your eyes.  It is everywhere, Facebook, blogs, heck even the NRA is talking about it. But I’m not here to tell you what you already know. Nope, today I am here to ask you why you are surprised?

I need to remind everyone that even before the title of Anti-gun Democrat comes the title POLITICIAN and therefore none of this should surprise anyone. How many times have we talked about the laws being for the little people? These types of people only care about their reputation during an election cycle where they come off their political high horse to kiss some hands and shake a few babies, say what needs to be said, and then head back to their elitist ways as soon as the votes are counted and wait for the time comes back around to start the vicious cycle over again.

The only bright side of this is he has with drawn from the Secretary of State race and is now facing calls for his resignation as a State Senator.  Jeez… I thought with this extensive resume he would be the top candidate for a leadership role at the Justice Department. Unfortunately, I believe Eric Holder was over heard saying that here was only room for one gun smuggler in the Democrat party….. ZING!

Thoughts? Head over the Facebook Page and let me know how you feel or you can comment with your best Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift Leland Yee edition joke.

This must be the week of elitist tools in the news. Let’s face it, anytime Mark Kelly comes up in the media it is usually because of some extreme doucheness and today is no exception. Gabby Giffords’ space cadet husband Mark Kelly gave a rousing speech on Feb 6th in front of Oregon’s legislature on…. you guessed it, more gun control.

Mr. Kelly climbed upon his soap box to push H.B. 1551 which would expand background checks on all firearm sales. He urged his support claiming the bill would curb crime like the egregious attack that was committed against his wife in January of 2011. Mark fails to mention that the man behind the gun used on his wife bought his weapon legally and the only thing that could have stopped the attack was a magic crystal ball but no big deal right?  Standard elitist bullshit. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!!!!

After entertaining the Oregon Senate the ever hypocritical Mark Kelly went to the Portland Police Bureau Central Precinct Range for some target practice. SAY WUT?!?! Yup you heard me right.

Just to prove it is him in the photo you can check their organizations website here for the fact check. And if that isn’t hypocritical or ironic enough he is seen shooting a Glock 17 in the photos–high capacity magazines and all. (Jared Loughner used a Glock 9mm to shoot Gabby.)

Maybe I am crazy and I am letting this get to me too much? What do you think? Is this even worse than when he bought the AR-15, the very style of rifle that he was on capitol hill lobbying against? Let me know over on the Facebook page or in the comments below.

After Jan 1st Connecticut residents who own standard capacity magazines and certain firearms that the state has determined to be considered “assault weapons” are going to be considered felons if they haven’t registered these extra scary items with the state.

This is a fine example of what we get when states pass feel good laws based on emotions. What all is required to be presented in order to register?

The application requires information such as the individual’s name, address, telephone number, motor vehicle operator’s license, sex, height, weight and thumbprint, as well as information about the weapon, including the serial number, model and any unique markings.

The large-capacity magazine declaration form includes much of the same information, including the applicant’s address and driver’s license number.

Of course there is a challenge to the new law but unfortunately has not made it up for a decision soon enough so residents are being encouraged to comply and hope that the law gets reversed.

I am certain that all the bad guys are in those lines ready to register their arms so this new law is gong to ensure everyone’s safety. Right? *crickets* *crickets*

No. I’m sorry but no thanks. I stopped reasonable discussion, and compromise a long ago. With the recent snafu with Dick Metcalf and his odd anti-gun editorial in the latest issue of Guns and Ammo I thought putting my stance out there for everyone to digest would be a good idea. If you would like to read what Dick wrote click here.

As I started with I am not the reasonable type and I feel as gun owners we can’t fall into the trap of national dialogue and reasonable discussion. For some reason some gun owners feel the need to be reasonable and open towards the anti-gun side and want to come to the table and have that discussion or national dialogue we hear about so much from the mainstream media. Little do these gun owners know they are falling into a trap, the same trap Dick fell into. People like Dick feel that if they come to the table and show that gun owners are able to listen the people on the other side of that table are going to understand and be satisfied with just conversation. WRONG! Gun owners have been reasonable for far too long.

Every time we have a reasonable discussion the gun owners tend to be on the losing end of the outcome. They come to the table thinking “this will be the last time the Antis ask for anything. If we just give a little compromise everything will be ok.” We have given in little by little thinking this is the last peace offering we will have to make. Don’t believe me? Lets talk a little history.

  • 1791 the Second Amendment was Ratified. Twenty-seven beautiful words that guaranteed the right to keep and bear arms to every American.
  • 1934 The National Firearms Act was put into place due to the gangster culture brought about by prohibition. This law famously eliminated automatic weapons along with short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, and suppressors. Transfers of such weapons were subject to $200 fee and subject to the Treasury Departments approval.
  • 1938 The Federal Firearms Act was approved by Congress forcing anyone involved with selling firearms to obtain a Federal Firearms License from the Secretary of Commerce. This also required the new FFL’s to record the names and addresses of everyone they sold guns to.
  • 1968 The Gun Control Act was brought about after the assassination of JFK. FFL’s were required to keep even more detailed information along with forbidding sales of handguns across state lines. The major change came in the outlawing of purchasing rifles and shotguns through mail order. (Lee Harvey Oswald used a mail order rifle in the assignation of JFK)
  • 1972 The ATF was formed
  • 1986 The Law Enforcement Officer Protection Act stopped the manufacture and importation of “cop killer” bullets that could pierce body armor.
  • 1990 The Crime Control Act established what we now know today as “Gun Free Zones” in schools and the stopped the assembly of illegal semi-auto rifles and shotguns with legally imported parts.
  • 1994 the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention act placed a mandatory 5 day waiting period and background check on handguns until Nov. 1998 when the National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) went live. The law stated all new firearm sales are subject to a NICS background check.
  • 1994 The Violent Crime and Law Enforcement Act, commonly referred to as the “Assault Weapon Ban,” made the manufacture, possession, and importation of new semiautomatic assault  weapons and large-capacity ammunition feeding devices for  civilian use illegal.

How about that for compromise and reasonable? We go from “shall not be infringed” to illegal for civilians to possess. I bet there was a lot of gun owners that thought the same as Dick Metcalf on the other side of the table when each of those laws were penned.

How about a more recent example of a reasonable discussion? Anyone remember Colorado and the dialogue that happened there? That is what happens when we open the door for reasonableness. If you don’t remember how it went just picture a one sided conversation with a senate majority leader telling his senators to ignore their constituents. Colorado is what happens when we have national dialogues and compromise. All the laws above came from compromise!

See? I told you I’m unreasonable. I don’t compromise. When it comes to my rights there is no compromise. Every time we have reasonable compromise we see another crack or a chip fall off of the foundation of our Second Amendment. Don’t be fooled into thinking we need to be reasonable. If you start thinking that way, come back to this post and read the middle part to remind yourself we have already compromised enough.

ACA Website vs. NICS

There have been a couple interesting graphics floating around the interwebs today and if you haven’t seen it here you go…..

It seems that people are still more prone to buying things that they want instead of being forced to own something. Weird? Another funny thing is the NICS system can seem to handle over a million and a half customers while the Obamacare site cant handle 1/34th of that traffic.

It has also been reported that the number for the Obamacare site is actually inflated. The number given represents “customers” that applied a plan to their cart but never checked out artificially inflating the numbers even more.

I’m sure this is going to be a to be continued thing. Generally I try to stick to mainly Second Amendment politics but this is semi-associated with firearms so I bent my rules a little bit.

I know it has been over a week now since I have brought any new material to all of you. After the LAX shooting I was discouraged and to be honest I feel a little ashamed. I feel like I let my readers down but let me explain myself.

Here we are again defending the actions of one crazy lunatic that has nothing in common with 99.99% of all gun owners. The media has been having wet dreams over this day since Sandy Hook. The earlier shooting (Naval Yard) didn’t fit their narrative; African-American, Prius driver, Obama supporter, and used a shotgun (at the advice of our VP I’m sure) so it wasn’t much to talk about or lean politically on.

Here is a quote from Mediaite

NBC News reporter Pete Williams identified the suspect in Friday’s LAX shooting as 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia who, according to authorities, had literature on him that suggests “strong anti-government views.”

Strong anti-government views…. This is what the media has prayed for long before Sandy Hook. This is their fluffy white unicorn. I am shocked at the lack of media attention so far which leads me to believe that something’s off. I’m not hinting at a conspiracy theory or false flag incident but the details surrounding the incident are still not any further than the day of the incident except the shooter has been upgraded to fair condition.

I found myself at my day job hearing about the shooting and literally had a PTSD flashback moment of all the articles I have written over the last year defending our rights, debunking the myth that nobody needs “high capacity magazines”, and trying to point out that all these shootings are happening in strangely similar places (gun free zones). I was frustrated and demoralized. The thing that snapped me out of it was sort of funny and made me realize that the facts are on our side and the people who oppose our views are still running on nothing but fear and emotion.

Friday night, I met up with my family and family friends that had made their way down from Canada for dinner. By the end of the night one of them just couldn’t take it any more and had to ask, “What’s with the gun?” A back and forth discussion ensued where I was accused of being small-minded and looking for trouble.

“Do you have a fire extinguisher in your home?” I asked.

“Well of course.” he replied.

“Sounds like you are looking for a fire…”

*Brief silence* “In Canada we do things the old-fashioned way” *he rolls his sleeves up and puts up his fists.

“That’s all well and good by me, but my problem is when the 90 pound woman is on the receiving end of a 240 pound man.”

Then what he said next proved to me that his theory was the small-minded stance that was filled with  all emotion and not thought out. He said, “She shouldn’t have put herself in that situation.”

My response came quick and the discussion ended as soon as I ended my sentence, “Most rape victims don’t get that choice.”

This whole discussion is what made me realize that we have to keep going. We have been fighting the same fights long before Sandy Hook and we will always be constantly in a battle. There will always be crazy people among our societies (2% in fact) and the crazy people are going to do crazy things. We can’t be held responsible for these crazy people, especially from the pundits who continue to misuse facts and mislead the general public. So I’m back. Sorry I fell off the wagon and let the team down.
