Magpul has been awfully tight lipped lately about their coming plans to move from the People’s Republic of Colorado. They finally let a little tidbit slip on their Facebook page that Pmags were being manufactured outside of Colorado for the first time but didn’t go as far to say where quite yet.

We should expect an announcement in the next week on where they will be making a home as soon as the NRA show is over.

On Monday Magpul rolled out their new version of their back up sights. The rear sight features an all-steel construction. After that it seems to be pretty similar to the previous plastic versions. Selectable large and small apertures, standard AR sight height, and a low-profile windage adjustment knob. The rear sight again features an all steel construction. Another new feature is a no tools required elevation adjustment knob. As expected, the rear is the standard AR sight’s height. One last interesting feature is when in the down position, the rear sight only takes up less than 1 5/8″ of rail.

Magpul also released another Magpul-dynamics-inspired product. The Magpul 1911 grip panels. The grips were designed in part from feedback from the instructors and feature a diamond shaped cross-section to prevent twisting while shooting.  They also sport an aggressive magazine release cut-out and are compatible with ambidextrous safeties. Made from carbon-reinforced polymer, and only available in carbon gray at this time with additional fitments and materials coming in the future.

It is official. Governor Hickenlooper signed HB 1224 into law today along with every other piece of gun control that was on his desk officially declaring Colorado an Occupied Red State. Magpul released a couple of statements from their Facebook yesterday that I wanted to share.

With the signing of the HB 1224, we want to reassure Colorado residents, now officially in occupied territory, that the “Boulder Airlift” will continue until we can no longer legally ship to CO residents at the approach of the July 1 deadline, so long as demand continues.
We are looking at additional ways to give Coloradans the opportunity to buy the magazines they need prior to the enactment date, as although we’ve been swamped with tens of thousands of orders, our shipping department limitations have only allowed us to get a few hundred thousand magazines out to CO residents…a small portion of our monthly production.  We’ll continue to support the Airlift as long as demand exists, and up to the active date of the legislation, and we’ve allocated a little over a million magazines for the effort up to that point, give or take.
Customers in the rest of the country should rest assured that the airlift only takes a small portion of our production, and magazines and other products are continuing to ship to the rest of the nation.  Our transition to a new home will occur in a phased and orderly a manner to allow us to continue to serve our customers during the move, as well as to allow an orderly transition for affected employees.  We are actively working on those plans.
So our friends behind enemy lines need to get those orders in so they can get ahold of all the “Grandfathered” mags they can before July 1st when I am almost certain the law goes into effect. Next they had this to say about the Governor prior to signing the bill.
We are told that one of the reasons that Gov Hickenlooper will sign the magazine ban is the statistic presented by the Golden police chief that an increasing number of Law Enforcement officers have been shot with magazines that hold more than 10 rounds since the expiration of the federal AWB.  Since most handguns ship with standard capacity magazines that hold more than 10 or even 15 rounds, that …would make sense…but what that statistic doesn’t tell you is that the average number of rounds fired in a criminal homicide is less than 5 rounds.  The capacity of the magazine never comes into play.  It just happens to be what is in the firearm, regardless of how many rounds were actually fired.
This is just another example of how the anti-gun lobby has to twist statistics in order to find support for their position.  The real, objective facts support none of their agenda, so half truths and distorted statistics are used to tell the story they want to tell—like the recent study they touted where “more gun laws equal less crime”, except they left several states and all major metropolitan areas out of the statistics, and included all manner of extraneous data…because that was the only way to “prove” what they wanted to present as fact.  Chicago is safer than Missoula, MT?  DC is safer than Ft Worth?  Really?  That’s just insulting to even suggest.
As this fight continues, ask for the whole picture.  Ask how polls were conducted, and what questions were asked before believing their “stats”.  Question bias is another favorite tactic of the anti-gun lobby.  Accept no statistic without the whole picture.  We’d be happy to give you all the supporting data on any “statistic” that we cite, as real data supports firearms freedoms.  Demand that the other side of the argument do the same.
What gets my goat is the “facts” being tossed around. I have said time and time again that the facts are on our side but as we see here the other side will take the “facts” and twist them to suit their own twisted desires.
Colorado, again I am truly sorry but keep your heads up and remember this feeling when 2014 comes around.

From their Facebook page:

Apparently Gov Hickenlooper has announced that he will sign HB 1224 on Wednesday.  We were asked for our reaction, and here is what we said: We have said all along that based on the legal problems and uncertainties in the bill, as well as general principle, we will have no choice but to leave if the Governor signs this into law.  We will start our transition out of the state almost immediately, a…nd we will prioritize moving magazine manufacturing operations first.  We expect the first PMAGs to be made outside CO within 30 days of the signing, with the rest to follow in phases.  We will likely become a multi-state operation as a result of this move, and not all locations have been selected.  We have made some initial contacts and evaluated a list of new potential locations for additional manufacturing and the new company headquarters, and we will begin talks with various state representatives in earnest if the Governor indeed signs this legislation.  Although we are agile for a company of our size, it is still a significant footprint, and we will perform this move in a manner that is best for the company and our employees.  It is disappointing to us that money and a social agenda from outside the state have apparently penetrated the American West to control our legislature and Governor, but we feel confident that Colorado residents can still take the state back through recalls, ballot initiatives, and the 2014 election to undo these wrongs against responsible Citizens.
There you have it. That is how you govern against the people. The politicians sold out their constituents for what? Really, for what? The idea of safety that has been proven false time and time again? Colorado you have my deepest sympathy and I will do what I can from this platform to help you all that I can. Stay strong and come out in 2014 as bitter and angry as you are now.
With deepest regrets,

From Magpul’s Facebook:

We are proud to announce that within a matter of days we will be going live with a new program. Due to a bill currently moving through the Colorado legislature, there is the possibility that Colorado residents’ ability to purchase standard capacity magazines will soon be infringed. Before that happens, and Magpul is forced to leave the state in order to keep to our principles, we will be doing our best to get standard capacity PMAGs into the hands of any Colorado resident that wants them.

Verified Colorado residents will be able to purchase up to ten (10) standard capacity AR/M4 magazines directly from Magpul, and will be given immediate flat-rate $5 shipping, bypassing our current order queue.

Our customers outside of Colorado, please know that our PMAG production will continue at an ever-increasing rate until we do relocate, shipments to our distributors in other states will continue, and that we do not expect relocation to significantly impact PMAG production. We are also aware that Colorado is not the only state with existing or pending magazine capacity restrictions; we are working on programs for other affected states as well.

Full details and instructions will be announced when we are able to go live; please watch here for the coming announcement.

I know that there is a few readers from Colorado so I urge you to take advantage of Magpul’s offer. Don’t forget your favorite blogger either I’m sure he could use one for a future giveaway…….. 🙂

Make sure you like us on Facebook and get us one step closer to someone winning a holster from NUoSU and a couple of paracord bracelets made by our friend Ryan Fickenworth.

Exclusive only to Colorado residents but it is cool to see The Suarez Group stepping up to fight the new laws for as long as they can.

This is their statement:

We received the tragic news that the state of Colorado had gone over to the dark side and embraced the ways of Mordor. For an entire day we have been reading debates and rhetoric. Our good friends at MagPul will be leaving the state and moving to the free state of Nevada. We congratulate them on their choice and we will continue to support them via the sales and endorsement of their products.

Nonetheless, The Suarez Group wanted to…needed to do, something to show solidarity with those stuck behind the lines in Colorado. Although we do not have the resources of larger companies, we want to do something notable.

We will show the socialists in Colorado that their oppressive laws on the people of Colorado are totally irrelevant by flooding the state with High Capacity M4 Assault Rifle Magazines before they close and lock the gates to the New Iron Curtain.

We have sets of ten (10) TSD Combat Systems M4 Magazines. These will only be sold to residents of Colorado at reduced rates, and only shipped to civilian Colorado addresses. We will not sell them to any official agency in the state, nor to any gun stores or dealers.

I know many want these magazines, but our beleaguered brothers need these more than we do.

Very cool! So if you are from Colorado and need some mags before all the crazy rains down on your once free state get them while you can!

Don’t forget to like us on Facebook at the top left of the page so you can join in the conversations. We are growing daily towards our 150 like goal when someone will be winning a custom kydex holster for the pistol of their choice and some very fine paracord bracelets!

The Colorado house of representatives passed four very anti-gun bills on Monday. By doing so puts Magpul one step closer to finding a new state to take their $85 million dollars in tax revenue and hundreds of jobs.

Colorado citizens need to start beating down the doors of their state senators and putting some real pressure on the governor. It is up to you to fight for your freedoms.

Call, write, and email daily. If your cries are ignored again during the next election make a statement. Get rid of the employees that are incapable of following orders from their constituents. Remember they work for you. Laws can be repealed but that is the long road, and not the most favorable route, so keep up the pressure now and make it not come to that.
