This must be the week of elitist tools in the news. Let’s face it, anytime Mark Kelly comes up in the media it is usually because of some extreme doucheness and today is no exception. Gabby Giffords’ space cadet husband Mark Kelly gave a rousing speech on Feb 6th in front of Oregon’s legislature on…. you guessed it, more gun control.

Mr. Kelly climbed upon his soap box to push H.B. 1551 which would expand background checks on all firearm sales. He urged his support claiming the bill would curb crime like the egregious attack that was committed against his wife in January of 2011. Mark fails to mention that the man behind the gun used on his wife bought his weapon legally and the only thing that could have stopped the attack was a magic crystal ball but no big deal right?  Standard elitist bullshit. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!!!!

After entertaining the Oregon Senate the ever hypocritical Mark Kelly went to the Portland Police Bureau Central Precinct Range for some target practice. SAY WUT?!?! Yup you heard me right.

Just to prove it is him in the photo you can check their organizations website here for the fact check. And if that isn’t hypocritical or ironic enough he is seen shooting a Glock 17 in the photos–high capacity magazines and all. (Jared Loughner used a Glock 9mm to shoot Gabby.)

Maybe I am crazy and I am letting this get to me too much? What do you think? Is this even worse than when he bought the AR-15, the very style of rifle that he was on capitol hill lobbying against? Let me know over on the Facebook page or in the comments below.

I have to say when I get good service I like to let my readers know and today is one of those days. As some of you may remember when going over my thoughts on the Smith & Wesson Vtac I said that I was disappointed with the fact there was only 2 mags in the package. I like to have a minimum of 5 for each gun I carry or train with. I usually keep two loaded with my carry ammo and the other three are my practice/range mags and since most advanced classes require a minimum of three I have two spares that don’t get abused too much to fill in if one goes down or breaks. So I hit the internet last week to find some more magazines to fill the gap S&W left me. In my searching I was starting to get really discouraged. Everyone was either $35+ or out of stock.

Finally I ran across Quantico Tactical and found their three pack deal and jumped all over it. These are factory magazines but instead of being in the fancy packaging they came in individual ziplock bags.

I was a little leery to place the order because I was having a hard time finding any reviews on Quantico Tactical or their bulk packaged magazines but I ended up ordering them on a Wednesday and had them in my hand on Monday.  We taught a Concealed Handgun class on Sunday. Valkyrie Defense always has one instructor shoot the course of fire alongside the students to build confidence with the students that the instructors can perform everything that the students are asked to do. I did the shooting portion with the students on Sunday and put the new mags to use. (I will post the picture of my target on the blog’s Facebook page tomorrow afternoon to show the progress I am making with adjusting to the Vtac also) All three ran without a problem through out all the drills. I will get them to the range one of these days and step the abuse up and see how they handle it but I am betting they will be fine. If I do find any problems I will be sure to let everyone know but I doubt any issues will arise since these are factory mags.

I will go on record and say if you want some good quick service and want to get a good deal on some M&P magazines (around $26) Quantico Tactical gets my stamp of approval.

Be sure to head over the Book of Faces and like the page. We are coming up on 350 and we always have room for more. Also like the VDG page and check out some of the training dates we have available around Ohio.

…or for the people who don’t vote the right way on gun control issues.

It seems the D.C. police chief once again was willing to turn a blind eye on possessing restricted items in our nations capital. The first instance came when David Gregory showed up on set with a 30 round box magazine. The most recent instance involves a rather well known anti-gun senator. Senator Diane Feinstein held a high profile press conference at the beginning of the year and somehow managed to get a wall full of firearms that were restricted inside the city. How did she manage to do this you ask? After a Freedom of Information Act request was filled it turns out that that Washington Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier is willing to allow the rules to be bent and even managed to provide a few extra scary items to help give the presser a little more flare.

Not only did the Metro Police help with acquiring the props, they tried to cover it up all while refusing Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham to bring rifles to a Senate Committee hearing regarding the same proposed legislation that Feinstein was pushing in the press conference.

Ironically enough Senator Feinstein was actively pushing for more and stricter laws while completely ignoring the ones in place. Once again laws are only for the people who obey them and those people aren’t criminals or anti-gun politicians.

Sunday I met quite a few buddies at the range and we ran some drills and played against the shot timer. I am trying to get a good feel for how to maximize the results from my time and ammo spent at the range. We will discuss this later on more thoroughly I promise but for now you get some cool range photos of me and a few buddies.

We started the day with our normal warm up then from there we dove right into the nonstop mocking and trash talk and a few other timed drills. We broke out the rifles just to see of they still worked but only worked on transitioning from rifle to pistol. I hate to say it but the rifle ammo isn’t coming down as quickly as the pistol ammo so I am having a hard time dedicating a lot of time to shooting them. We moved onto some shooting and moving with pistol when the rifles went away and from there everyone seemed like they were good and tired.

Here are some pictures from throughout the day. There are a lot of me and my one buddy but I think that is because everyone else had packed up and was headed out right around when the camera was coming out, or is it because we are the most handsome of the whole group? I am going with the latter of course.

I love going over photos of myself shooting. Sometimes I can see that my grip or my stance is wrong in little places and it gives me things to concentrate on when I go the next time.

Magpul has been awfully tight lipped lately about their coming plans to move from the People’s Republic of Colorado. They finally let a little tidbit slip on their Facebook page that Pmags were being manufactured outside of Colorado for the first time but didn’t go as far to say where quite yet.

We should expect an announcement in the next week on where they will be making a home as soon as the NRA show is over.

Well sometimes it sucks to be right all the time. Expect to be back in the poitical trenches really soon. You can’t make Biden cry on camera and expect there not to be some backlash for it. We will find out what his plans are soon the way it sounds. My guess is he will try some executive order on magazine limits or background checks.

We keep hearing how the victory in the senate was such a great achievement but do we really know why? Have you thought about why this is that defining moment? I have a few thoughts I want to get out there and see if you agree.

Gun ownership in the last 5 years has skyrocketed, so much so that the FBI is claiming that every minute that Barack Hussein Obama has been in office there has been 32 guns purchased. That is a mind-blowing fact. Since February of 2009 there has been 70,291,049 NICS checks performed. Let’s look at this another way. How many people just in this year alone have gone out and purchased their first gun? Why do you think we are seeing an ammo shortage? Our market is being flooded by people who are picking up their first gun and making sure they grab themselves a box of ammo to go along with it. Add that to the guys who are like me and actually shoot 1 to 2 times a week regularly and it’s no wonder we are seeing a drought.

Let us move back to why this is a huge win. The gun grabbers know that every day that passes by there is more people investing into the Second Amendment. Like we said earlier, 32 gun purchases a minute and many are first-timers. Those first time buyers are now fully invested both emotionally and monetarily. Before it was no skin off their ass if there was a ban on a specific firearm since they didn’t own any. But now they are part of our group and they know that the smallest insignificant infringement on our rights is entirely too much.

We are no longer the silent majority, we are everyday becoming the overwhelming majority and the anti’s know that. This was their defining moment and they may never have another chance like this again. They had the perfect chance with the emotional tide, media, and the number of seats all in their favor. They went all in and demagoguery failed while constitutional rights prevailed. That my friends is why it was a defining moment.
