California State Senator Leland Yee is really all I have to say and you automatically start rolling your eyes.  It is everywhere, Facebook, blogs, heck even the NRA is talking about it. But I’m not here to tell you what you already know. Nope, today I am here to ask you why you are surprised?

I need to remind everyone that even before the title of Anti-gun Democrat comes the title POLITICIAN and therefore none of this should surprise anyone. How many times have we talked about the laws being for the little people? These types of people only care about their reputation during an election cycle where they come off their political high horse to kiss some hands and shake a few babies, say what needs to be said, and then head back to their elitist ways as soon as the votes are counted and wait for the time comes back around to start the vicious cycle over again.

The only bright side of this is he has with drawn from the Secretary of State race and is now facing calls for his resignation as a State Senator.  Jeez… I thought with this extensive resume he would be the top candidate for a leadership role at the Justice Department. Unfortunately, I believe Eric Holder was over heard saying that here was only room for one gun smuggler in the Democrat party….. ZING!

Thoughts? Head over the Facebook Page and let me know how you feel or you can comment with your best Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift Leland Yee edition joke.

No. I’m sorry but no thanks. I stopped reasonable discussion, and compromise a long ago. With the recent snafu with Dick Metcalf and his odd anti-gun editorial in the latest issue of Guns and Ammo I thought putting my stance out there for everyone to digest would be a good idea. If you would like to read what Dick wrote click here.

As I started with I am not the reasonable type and I feel as gun owners we can’t fall into the trap of national dialogue and reasonable discussion. For some reason some gun owners feel the need to be reasonable and open towards the anti-gun side and want to come to the table and have that discussion or national dialogue we hear about so much from the mainstream media. Little do these gun owners know they are falling into a trap, the same trap Dick fell into. People like Dick feel that if they come to the table and show that gun owners are able to listen the people on the other side of that table are going to understand and be satisfied with just conversation. WRONG! Gun owners have been reasonable for far too long.

Every time we have a reasonable discussion the gun owners tend to be on the losing end of the outcome. They come to the table thinking “this will be the last time the Antis ask for anything. If we just give a little compromise everything will be ok.” We have given in little by little thinking this is the last peace offering we will have to make. Don’t believe me? Lets talk a little history.

  • 1791 the Second Amendment was Ratified. Twenty-seven beautiful words that guaranteed the right to keep and bear arms to every American.
  • 1934 The National Firearms Act was put into place due to the gangster culture brought about by prohibition. This law famously eliminated automatic weapons along with short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, and suppressors. Transfers of such weapons were subject to $200 fee and subject to the Treasury Departments approval.
  • 1938 The Federal Firearms Act was approved by Congress forcing anyone involved with selling firearms to obtain a Federal Firearms License from the Secretary of Commerce. This also required the new FFL’s to record the names and addresses of everyone they sold guns to.
  • 1968 The Gun Control Act was brought about after the assassination of JFK. FFL’s were required to keep even more detailed information along with forbidding sales of handguns across state lines. The major change came in the outlawing of purchasing rifles and shotguns through mail order. (Lee Harvey Oswald used a mail order rifle in the assignation of JFK)
  • 1972 The ATF was formed
  • 1986 The Law Enforcement Officer Protection Act stopped the manufacture and importation of “cop killer” bullets that could pierce body armor.
  • 1990 The Crime Control Act established what we now know today as “Gun Free Zones” in schools and the stopped the assembly of illegal semi-auto rifles and shotguns with legally imported parts.
  • 1994 the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention act placed a mandatory 5 day waiting period and background check on handguns until Nov. 1998 when the National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) went live. The law stated all new firearm sales are subject to a NICS background check.
  • 1994 The Violent Crime and Law Enforcement Act, commonly referred to as the “Assault Weapon Ban,” made the manufacture, possession, and importation of new semiautomatic assault  weapons and large-capacity ammunition feeding devices for  civilian use illegal.

How about that for compromise and reasonable? We go from “shall not be infringed” to illegal for civilians to possess. I bet there was a lot of gun owners that thought the same as Dick Metcalf on the other side of the table when each of those laws were penned.

How about a more recent example of a reasonable discussion? Anyone remember Colorado and the dialogue that happened there? That is what happens when we open the door for reasonableness. If you don’t remember how it went just picture a one sided conversation with a senate majority leader telling his senators to ignore their constituents. Colorado is what happens when we have national dialogues and compromise. All the laws above came from compromise!

See? I told you I’m unreasonable. I don’t compromise. When it comes to my rights there is no compromise. Every time we have reasonable compromise we see another crack or a chip fall off of the foundation of our Second Amendment. Don’t be fooled into thinking we need to be reasonable. If you start thinking that way, come back to this post and read the middle part to remind yourself we have already compromised enough.

…or for the people who don’t vote the right way on gun control issues.

It seems the D.C. police chief once again was willing to turn a blind eye on possessing restricted items in our nations capital. The first instance came when David Gregory showed up on set with a 30 round box magazine. The most recent instance involves a rather well known anti-gun senator. Senator Diane Feinstein held a high profile press conference at the beginning of the year and somehow managed to get a wall full of firearms that were restricted inside the city. How did she manage to do this you ask? After a Freedom of Information Act request was filled it turns out that that Washington Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier is willing to allow the rules to be bent and even managed to provide a few extra scary items to help give the presser a little more flare.

Not only did the Metro Police help with acquiring the props, they tried to cover it up all while refusing Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham to bring rifles to a Senate Committee hearing regarding the same proposed legislation that Feinstein was pushing in the press conference.

Ironically enough Senator Feinstein was actively pushing for more and stricter laws while completely ignoring the ones in place. Once again laws are only for the people who obey them and those people aren’t criminals or anti-gun politicians.

Sunday I met quite a few buddies at the range and we ran some drills and played against the shot timer. I am trying to get a good feel for how to maximize the results from my time and ammo spent at the range. We will discuss this later on more thoroughly I promise but for now you get some cool range photos of me and a few buddies.

We started the day with our normal warm up then from there we dove right into the nonstop mocking and trash talk and a few other timed drills. We broke out the rifles just to see of they still worked but only worked on transitioning from rifle to pistol. I hate to say it but the rifle ammo isn’t coming down as quickly as the pistol ammo so I am having a hard time dedicating a lot of time to shooting them. We moved onto some shooting and moving with pistol when the rifles went away and from there everyone seemed like they were good and tired.

Here are some pictures from throughout the day. There are a lot of me and my one buddy but I think that is because everyone else had packed up and was headed out right around when the camera was coming out, or is it because we are the most handsome of the whole group? I am going with the latter of course.

I love going over photos of myself shooting. Sometimes I can see that my grip or my stance is wrong in little places and it gives me things to concentrate on when I go the next time.

Now that the dust has settled we are getting accurate detail of the Boston bombing situation. I don’t want to waste a lot of time talking about it anymore than I already have mainly because this is being shoved down most of America’s throat on every tv and radio station out there right now. I will cut to the chase and just tell you now that everyone that was holding their breath waiting for another backlash on “Assault Weapons” because of the initial shootout that took the life of the elder terrorist can breath a little sigh of relief. Sources have told ABC News that a single gun was found and it was a Ruger 9MM.

Michael Bane had a great blog post on this today explaining how things work in a gun-free paradise. It is a great read and I higly recommend heading over there and letting him know I sent you. Here is a little excerpt from his post:

After those rollicking crazy Boston boys blasted an eight-year-old into
oblivion, they did a little workout at the gym and planned to head to New York
City to party party party. A problemo surfaces…they only had one pistol. I
mean, two terrorists, one pistol, not gonna look good on FaceBook, n’est-ce
pas
? So did the boys race to an Internet cafe to buy maybe a dozen or so
full-auto assault weapons off the Internet, with same-day shipping? Speed to a
LGS for the “Tuesday Terrorist Two-Fer, No NCIS No Way”? Wait for the weekend
gun show where they could stock up on RPGs, grenades and those rifles with the
shoulder thingie that sticks up?

None of
the above
. Instead, they went to the one firearms superstore
where they were sure guns would be in stock…they walked up to the police car
of MIT Officer Sean Collier, killed him in very cold blood and tried to grab his
gun. The reason those lovable Holden Caulfield-esque urchins failed on that task
was that apparently the Islamic Terrorism 101 class on the Internet doesn’t
include retention holsters, disabling of. Don’t worry…I’m sure the curriculum
will be updated any moment now!

Michael has a way of putting things that just impresses the hell out of me.

Most of my readers know I am from Ohio and this post is going to be aimed close to home for my other fellow Ohioans, but you can still follow the links and see how your senators voted on Wednesday.

I am throughly disappointed in Sherrod Brown. I believe it is my mission now to make certain he is not elected ever again. A little back ground on Mr. Brown shows a career politician with very little real life work experience.  It is no surprise that he is a little out of touch with the rest of Ohioans seeing that he has been involved in the political game since his first position as  a State Rep in 1974 at the age of 22. From there he moved from political position to political position until finally ending up as senator in the 2006 election.

Now on to his attempt to screw all of Ohio and the American people. Let us count the ways that Sherrod Brown attempted to vote our rights away shall we?

  • The Manchin-Toomey Amendment or The Universal Background check – Brown (D-OH), Yea
  • The Grassley Amendment to address gun violence, improve the availability of records to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, address mental illness in the criminal justice system, and end straw purchases and trafficking of illegal firearms, and for other purposes – Brown (D-OH), Nay
  • Leahy Amendment to increase public safety by punishing and deterring firearms trafficking. Brown (D-OH), Yea
  • Cornyn Amendment to allow reciprocity for the carrying of certain concealed firearms. Brown (D-OH), Nay
  • Feinstein Amendment to regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited, and for other purposes. Brown (D-OH), Yea
  • Lautenberg Amendment to regulate large capacity ammunition feeding devices. Brown (D-OH), Yea
  • Burr Amendment to protect the Second Amendment rights of veterans and their families. Brown (D-OH), Nay

So lets recap shall we? Mr. Brown is for universal background checks, stands with Diane Feinstein to regulate assault weapons, is for the regulation of high capacity magazines, and is for increased punishment of firearms trafficking. Mr. Brown is against reciprocity for concealed firearms, improving availability of records to NICS, addressing mental illness in the criminal justice system, ending straw purchases and trafficking of illegal firearms, and he is against protecting the Second Amendment rights of veterans and their families.

I held out hope and kept contacting him like many of the other Ohio readers did praying he would change his mind, but alas our efforts were thwarted and he voted with the likes of Diane Feinstein and Chuck Schumer. This guy needs to go and I hope everyone in Ohio can read the post and see where Sherrod Brown’s votes land on issues that pertain to our rights. Read the amendments above and the short descriptions again and ask yourself if he voted with you or against you. Senator Portman did his job, he listened to what Ohioans wanted and voted accordingly. Brown decided to follow in step of the marching orders of his agenda driven party and never gave us a second thought.
Please be sure to share this on your Facebook and Twitter and post it to all the different forums you visit to let every one of your friends know that Brown is not our friend. We need to get out to as many people as we can in order to make sure he is out of a job the next time around. I want to see as much traffic to the site today as possible so as many people as possible are getting the truth about his votes.
Sherrod Brown must go.
