Not really, but kinda. It is pretty well-known now that a lot of Bloomberg’s money had plenty to do with the recent happenings in Colorado. The citizens of Colorado are doing their best to send a message back to New York and to the rest of the politicians that chose Bloomberg over their constituents about exactly how much they appreciate it. This is probably no surprise that I am rather pleased to see Coloradoans take their state back, but there was a little reported on event in my home state of Ohio that occurred last week that gave me just as much pleasure.

On Friday August 31st New York’s Mayor decided to send some of his representatives to Columbus to possibly test the waters on how the Buckeye State was leaning on the gun issue. It is safe to say that the message was not well received. The Anti-gun rally quickly turned into a Pro-gun event when 50 gun-toting, freedom loving, citizens showed up to display Ohio’s displeasure about the Mayors Against Illegal Guns stance on stifling their rights. The attendance was obviously a good example of how Ohio feels about a New York politician meddling in Ohio’s affairs. The MAIG mustered somewhere around a “half-dozen” where the Pro-gun sides managed to roll in with…

About 50 guns-rights supporters were on hand, some with rifles over their shoulders and others with handguns in hip holsters.

Probably the best example was when the Anti-gun speaker was finished being drowned out by the pro-gun side Linda Walker of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation took over as the speaker and took the rally in a whole new direction than even Nanny Bloomberg could have expected. It is safe to say she was better accepted among the crowd.

The Buckeye Firearms Association has got quite the publicity lately with their donation to George Zimmerman and their assistance in the Colorado Recall Election. I think it is great that we have grassroots organizations like this out there helping fight for our rights. The big guys like the NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, and Gun Owners of America are great on a national scale but only small groups such as the BFA are going to be able to address intimate local issues that are over looked by the larger ones. Check and see if your state and local area has a group similar to the Buckeye Firearms Association and see what you can do to join up. If anything go join your local gun club, It may seem like a trivial act but the way local clubs can impact a community in a positive way is important in the fight for securing our right to keep and bear arms.
